How Laser Hair Removal Works

We use intense pulsed light technology that targets the melanin in the hair shaft causing damage at the root of the follicle. The damage breaks down the cellular structure of the hair follicle resulting in permanent hair removal. What separates our technology from others is that it has real time cooling allowing us to surpass the surface layer pigment of your skin more easily and direct the wavelength more concentratedly at the desired target of pigment within your hair. Our machines also use a much larger spectrum of wavelengths from 690-940 allowing the laser to target a larger variety of hair thickness and color so, we are able to get all the small finer hairs that are mixed in with your darker more cores hairs, resulting in a more efficient treatment. Our Laser machines also use smart-pulse technology which allows for safer procedures when treating darker skin tones, by emitting mini pulses of light allowing for more cooling time in-between each pulse. At Highlite we believe treatment outcome is the most important thing so, when you come in for your treatments you can trust that you are in capable hands.

• Pregnant or nursing

• History of disease that can be stimulated by heat (e.g. herpes)
• Poorly controlled endocrine disorders (e.g. diabetes or polycystic ovary syndrome)

Yes, you can! We use one of the best light based technologies on the market to deliver a narrow range of wavelengths of light to the hair follicle, causing it to heat up and die. The use of a smart pulse technology allows for mini-pulses of light, and it’s real-time cooling system protects the upper layer of skin from the energy. All of these factors contribute to a less painful, safer and more effective treatment for all skin types.

Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You should also avoid tanning. Depending on where you’re getting a treatment, you may be advised to shave the area on the day of your treatment. Remove all jewelry around the area being treated.

It feels like a really light snap with an elastic band against your skin, or like if someone lightly flicked you, as the applicator moves around
the treatment area.

The applicator has a cooling feature built into it to make the treatment as comfortable as possible, but you might feel a bit of discomfort if
you’re treating a more sensitive area, like along the bikini line. If you find it too uncomfortable, let your technician know and we can adjust
the treatment accordingly to make it more comfortable.

If anything, your skin may look dry and feel a little itchy. Moisturizing can help relieve the itch. Other than that, you shouldn’t really feel any different after your treatment.

Avoid tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment, and wear sunscreen. You should also avoid hot baths,
massages, or any treatment that requires direct contact with the skin for the first 2 days after your treatment.

Yes, you can apply makeup immediately after your treatment, but make sure you put on sunscreen first.
